Sustainability and Climate Change

What is a Climate Action Plan?

In April 2022, the Department for Education released a sustainability and climate change strategy specifically for education. By December 2025, all education settings are expected to appoint a sustainability lead and develop a climate action plan. This plan will guide schools in both implementing and educating about various sustainability initiatives.

At Lythe C of E Primary, we believe that small actions can lead to big changes, and we’re excited to take steps toward a greener, more sustainable future. Our Climate Action Plan is all about creating a positive impact on the environment while inspiring our children, staff, and families to work together for a cleaner, healthier world.

From reducing waste to saving energy, we are committed to making eco-friendly choices that will benefit not only our school but the community around us. By embracing these efforts, we hope to encourage everyone at Lythe C of E Primary to become climate champions and help build a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow.

Our climate action plan has been created collaboratively by all key stakeholders, whilst our Headteacher is our Climate Action Lead and Sheila Sloan is our link governor.
