Dear Parents, I hope you had a good Easter and enjoyed a well-earned rest! Here are a few news items and dates for your diary.
On Tuesday 12th April staff, children, parents and friends of Lythe School all gathered to join forces and enjoy a 'Gardening Day' in the school grounds.more gardening fun!
Easter Fair

The children, staff, parents and friends of Lythe School enjoyed a lovely afternoon on the 8th April during our Easter Fair.
Year 6 at Peat Rigg!!

Year 6 children are at present enjoying their Residential visit to Peat Rigg Outdoor Education Centre near Cropton Forest, Pickering.
Peat Rigg adventures continue...!

Class 4 have been busy with new challenges today and refused to be beaten by tiredness, rain and heights!! Cycling, archery, tree climbing and canoeing have been the order of the day. Oh and we mustn't forget our fantastic mealtime helpers. (Look mums - they really CAN do the cleaning up!!)
Opening of the New Build

On Wednesday, September 8th, the Archdeacon of Cleveland, the Venerable, the Reverend Paul Ferguson visited the school to perform the opening ceremony for the new Nursery, Hygiene Room and Reception area. Parents, friends and people who have been involved in the planning and building of the new facilities joined the children and staff for our Collective Worship in the School Hall led by Reverend Josephine Evett-Seckers. All the children used sign-language to welcome the guests and to sing the Lord's Prayer and Callum, Bethany and Alice led the prayers. James led the school in singing Dona Nobis Pacem before we all shared the Peace.

Our link with China

Last May, the Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, visited Beijing. Schools within the York Dioscese were invited to make a CD of facts and information about their school and area which was then taken by the Archbishop to China where we were linked with Primary schools in the city of Beijing. We were one of four schools in theScarborough and Ryedale area who responded.

The Great Plant Hunt

To mark the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, commissioned and funded by the Wellcome Trust, has created The Great Plant Hunt. This exciting project will encourage children to explore the natural world around them and join other schools in the biggest ever school science project. The whole school is taking part in this and children have already gone on "thinking walks" and started to make observations.
LYTHE CEVC PRIMARY SCHOOL CHURCH SCHOOL INSPECTION
On May 8th 2009, we had our Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools (SIAS). This inspection follows on from the Ofsted Inspection (within 6 weeks) for any Church school.
We are an RSC Learning and Performance Network School
We are delighted that we have been invited to join in the work of Whitby Community College, who are taking part in the Royal Shakespeare Company's Learning and Performance Network Programme.
